In the world of fashion design, the term "silhouette" refers to the shape or overall outline of a garment. The shape or silhouette is basically a garment's two-dimensional outline or configuration. It represents the structure and proportions of the clothing piece. Think of it as the costume's general shape. Since clothing has three dimensions, the silhouette changes when viewed from different angles, giving it a unique appearance. Before people even notice the fabric, texture, or details, their initial impression of an outfit is based on its silhouette. That is why it is essential to consider this in the design process.

Fashion Silhouettes are influenced by fashion trends that evolve from season to season. Styles can undergo sudden shifts, going from tight and fitted to loose and flowing, all because of the promotion of a "new look" by fashion shows, websites, magazines, stores, or fashion icons. There can be numerous types of silhouettes exist. But the majority of the garments are based on four basic shapes i.e. natural shape, rectangular shape, tent shape, and full shape.

It is designed to flatter the body's proportions and highlight its inherent beauty. #2 Rectangular or Pencil or Tubular or H-Line or Straight Shape Silhouette
